Leaders NEC seek to keep momentum at URA

Hussein Mbalangu’s NEC FC will be aiming to extend their lead at the top of the Uganda Premier league when they visit URA FC under the floodlights of Nakivubo on Thursday.

NEC currently top the league standings with 22 points, one above second placed Vipers SC while the tax collectors are ninth with 14 points.

Mbalangu’s charges come into this contest after back to back wins against KCCA FC and SC Villa.

The Soldier Boys return to the venue where they lost 2-1 to Express FC earlier this season.

URA FC on the other hand returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 win away to struggling Wakiso Giants.

Alex Isabirye coached side are in search of back to back victories for the first time this campaign.

Mbalangu remains confident that his side will prevail to a third consecutive win

“We are ready because SC Villa is done, and now we’re planning to face URA at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo. We are very ready, and even the boys are eager to fight for victory.”

Team News

The hosts URA will be without suspended goalkeeper Abdu Magada but will be boosted with the return of Derrick Ochan, Shariph Kimbowa and John Innocent Kisolo.

NEC will welcome back Atendele Geriga who missed the 2-1 victory against SC Villa due to suspension.

Head to Head

This will be the third meeting between the two sides in the topflight division. Last season, each side won its home fixture 2-0.
