Attacking midfielder, Ivan Asaba scored in either half to guide Maroons FC past Police FC in the forces derby match played at Kavumba recreation grounds.

The victory came in handy for the Prison warders who had just been embarrassed by Kitara FC at home in the previous match. It was also Maxwell Okello’s second victory after deputising for Mohammed Senfuma.

Police went in front thanks to a well crafted goal by Isaac Ogwang in the 7th minute, but their lead only lived for 18 minutes as Asaba equalised for Maroons from the spot after being brought down in the forbidden area.

The match went into halftime level but Maroons continued from where they had ended the and found another goal in the 54th minute after Police’s defence failed to clear the ball away for safety and were hugely punished by the in form youngster.

The hosts failed to recover from that goal and their efforts find a leveller proved futile as Simon Tamale and his defense cleared everything thrown at them and they managed to hung on to a slim victory that sends them to 6th place on the log with 19 points.

Police keep 7th place with 17 points and they will hope for revival when they host KCCA FC next month. Maroons on the other hand will host Mbale Heroes at Luzira.
