Struggling Uganda Premier league side Mbale Heroes have confirmed the appointment of Baker Mboowa as their new head coach.

This website earlier reported that Mboowa was in advanced negotiations with the club following the suspension of Asaph Mwebaze in December.

On Wednesday, 15th January 2025 Mbale Heroes officially confirmed that they had part ways with Mwebaze who had replaced Richard Malinga.

Mboowa has been been jobless since leaving Express FC following a defeat to Lugazi FC early this season in October.

The club has been under the tutelage of Abu Mubarak Wamboya who was appointed as an interim coach.

Mboowa becomes the fourth coach to manage Mbale Heroes this season after Mwebaze, Wamboya and Richard Malinga.

His task will be to help the club overcome relegation this season. Before they returned to the top tier, Mbale Heroes had spent almost two decades in the lower leagues.

Mbale Heroes finished the first round bottom of the Uganda Premier league table with just nine points. They managed two wins, three draws and lost ten games.
