Bakasambe hands over refereeing mantle to own son after officiating last ever match

Former FIFA referee Rajab Bakasambe officially retired after handling a one all draw between Seeta United and Sparks Soccer Club at Seeta Church of Uganda grounds.

Emmanuel Lubangakene and Fred Tabu were the goal scorers for Seeta United and Sparks Soccer Club respectively.

In his last ever match, Bakasambe sent off Seeta United’s Emmanuel Isabirye for unsporting behaviour.

After the final whistle, Bakasambe handed over his tools to son Ashiraf Kibungo as he appreciated those that have made his journey a success.

“I thank all those that have made my journey a success. I leave a very happy man who achieved his targets and never will I regret being a referee.”

“I have retired but I am not leaving so my dear fellow referees I am here for you incase you need me”

An emotional Bakasambe added

Fellow referees active and retired witnessesed Bakasambe retired as he was gifted by Buganda National Referees.

Sam Mpiima FUFA Executive Member, Brian Miiro Nsubuga the FUFA Referees Standing Committee Chairman, Hassan Kavuma the Buganda Region Delegate, UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani, Farouk Kigongo the Buganda Regional Football Referees Association Standing Committee, assistant Referees Manager Emmy Kisakye and Hajji Yusuf Kamulegeya the Uganda National Netball Association Treasurer were in attendance.

Others in attendance were FIFA retired Referees Ali Kalyango and Mark Ssonko, Robert Kimbugwe, Steven Kimayo and Ashadu Ssemere from Kampala, Bob Omolo and Ismail Sewaya Miti.
