The CAF Disciplinary Board has disqualified Congo for fielding an ineligible player in their CHAN 2024 qualify match against Equatorial Guinea.

CAF found Congo guilty of fielding an ineligible player in the names of Mankou Nguembete Japhet Eloi.

Mankou is believed to have featured for Leones Vegetarianos, a club based in Equatorial Guinea.

It should be remembered that the African Nations Championship (CHAN) is specifically for players from the domestic leagues.

The CAF Disciplinary Board has made the following decisions:

*Matches No. 1 Equatorial Guinea vs Congo and No. 2 Congo vs Equatorial Guinea of the 2024 African Nations Championship qualifiers were declared forfeited by Congo (with a score of 3-0).

*The Congolese Federation has also been fined USD 10,000.

This means that Equatorial Guinea will now replace Congo in the tournament to be hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in August this year.

Group A. Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia.

Group B. Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania. Burkina Faso, Central African Republic.

Group C
