CAF confirms New Dates for Rearranged 2024 CHAN in East Africa

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee (EXCO) has confirmed the dates for the rearranged African Nations Championship (CHAN) due to take place in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

During a CAF Executive Committee meeting that was held on Monday, 27th January 2025 in Rabat, Morocco, it was established that the 2024 CHAN tournament will kickoff on Saturday, 2nd August with the final slated for 30th August, 2025.

The event was due to take place in February but CAF decided to postpone it since more time is required to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities in the three countries are at the levels, necessary for hosting a successful Championship.

The African Nations Championship (CHAN) is specifically for players from the domestic leagues.

2024 CHAN Tournament Groups

Group A: Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, Zambia

Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic

Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Q2, Q1

Group D: Senegal (Defending champions), Equatorial Guinea, Sudan, Nigeria

Meanwhile, Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Malawi, Gambia, Gabon & Comoros will compete in a qualification mini tournament to determine the two teams which will qualify as Q1 & Q2 to join Uganda, Niger and Guinea in Group C.
