Steven Bengo’s men will open their Uganda Premier league round II expedition with a home match against defending champions SC Villa who beat them 6-1 at Wankulukuku in the reverse fixture.

The Purple Sharks have however not won a match in their last 10 outings and this grey patch see them sit 14th on the 16 team log with only 12 points out of a possible 45.

Villa on the other hand are on a run not to be proud of for a defending champion. In fact, they are closer to the relegation zone than they are to leaders Vipers who are on 34 points, against Villa’s meager 20.

Morley Byekwaso’s men have only managed one win in their last five matches, mirroring their inconsistency this term.

The acquisition of new recruits like veteran winger Sula Matovu and pacy crafty winger Ashraf Mulindi from Soltilo Bright Stars may elavate their attacking muscle.

Wakiso Giants acquired the services of striker Fazil Tumwine onloan from Vipers SC and he may provide the necessary cutting edge that has been missing from their attack. The return to full fitness of experienced midfielder Rahmat Senfuka will also be a big plus for them.

Former Uganda Cranes winger Moses Oloya joined in the January transfer window, he will add the necessary experience required in attack.

Tanzanian Bibo Omary Mfaume has been cleared to play for the Purple Sharks after turning 18.

TEAM NEWS:

Wakiso Giants welcome back central midfielder Rahmat Senfuka and he is expected to be in contention for a starting berth. They will however miss the services of defenders Abdul Ssemakula and
Alex Komakech. Midfielders Vincent Zziwa and Tom Masiko are still on the treatment table.

SC Villa still miss the services of the long term sidelined Elvis Ngonde, he was joined in the sickbay by striker Francis Onekalit.

Goalkeeper Medi Kibirige returns on time to contend for a place in goal with Jean Braddy Wokorach
