KCCA FC poor run to the league campaign continued after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to arch-rivals Express FC in the Kampala derby on Sunday.
It was a continuation of the agonies of the season, Sergio Traguil’s players doing plenty to raise the hopes of their fans. In particular Muhammad Shaban, who has now scored three goals in three games.
The 13 time Uganda Premier league champions have now lost their opening three league games.
After a 2-1 loss to Maroons FC, Many thought the Kasasiro Boys would make amends but it’s was the Red Eagles who prevailed to a second consecutive away win.
More alarming is what this performance say about where the team is heading under Traguil.
Goals from Derrick Ngoobi and a late Isaac Wagoina header handed James Odoch’s side maximum points at Lugogo.
Shaban netted for the hosts who remain winless this term.
Ngoobi gave the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute off a Eddy Ssebandeke cross but eight minutes later Shaban levelled matters with his second goal of the league campaign.
With five minutes to the end, Wagoina headed the winner for the visitors his first goal of the campaign.
The full-time whistle was the prompt for boos from the home crowd, a reflex reaction born out of bitter frustration. Traguil’s empire is falling to pieces.
Victory sees the Red Eagles move to 4th place with 7 points while KCCA stay in the bottom three with zero points out of a possible nine.
KCCA visit table leaders Kitara in Masindi while Express next host Bright Stars at Wankulukuku.
