The Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda has announced the inaugural Uganda Premier league Pre-season Fans’ tournament.
The development was confirmed on Monday, 7th July at Amicus Hotel in Kireka.
This gala will be played by all the 16 clubs that featured in the 2024-2025 season including Bright Stars, Mbale Heroes FC and Wakiso Giants FC who were the three relegated sides last season. It will be played over two days at the Kampala Quality Stadium in Kyebando.
Sultan Kivumbi, the chairman of the Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda revealed that the inaugural tournament will bring fans from all the 16 teams that competed in last season’s topflight together.
“This tournament will be the first of its kind and this is a platform for all the Uganda Premier league fans. We ask for partnership in telling this exciting story of unity and football passion. Over the past years, PFFA has brought fans together through community football matches with various organized fans’ teams, dialogue forums and engagements. Our goal is not to replace clubs or fan groups but to strengthen collective identity and bridge gaps between supporters regardless of their club allegiance.” Said Kivumbi
Uganda Premier league CEO Bernard Bainamani, welcomed the event
“I take this opportunity to thank the fans for this initiative. This is great for all football lovers in the country most especially the Uganda Premier league fans. We welcome the initiative as UPL and we shall support the event.” Said Bainamani.
The registration fee for teams taking part is free of charge but each team will have to pay Shs50,000 for match Officials.
Winners will walk away with a trophy, set of jerseys and gold medals while the runners-up will take home silver medals and bronze medals for the third placed team.
