Maroons FC ended Express FC’s unbeaten start with a 1-0 victory at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Friday.

Solomon Walusimbi scored the all important goal to earn the visitors a hard fought win.

Due to the heavy downpour, the kickoff time was delayed by over 30 minutes since the pitch was unplayable and it had to been cleared for the game to start.

Walusimbi’s goal came in the 31st minute of the game when his powerful strike left Express FC Goalkeeper Abdul Kimera helpless.

Before Walusimbi’s strike, Isaac Wagoina had a decent chance to give the home side the lead but his effort went inches wide.

Alpha Thierry Ssali also had another chance but failed to hit the target.

Express FC piled more pressure in the second half but they couldn’t breakdown a determined and organized Maroons defence.

The Prison Warders cruised to their fourth win on the road this term and are now on 14 points and are now fifth on the UPL log while the Red Eagles are sixth with 12 points.
