SC Villa 0-2 Maroons

Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa had a miserable return to Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku as they fell to Maroons on Sunday.

Maroons cruised to a 2-0 win over the Jogoos thanks to Raymond Walugembe and Abel Eturude goals in either half.

SC Villa came into the game unbeaten at home this term winning six and drawing three of the games they had hosted in the league.

This was their first game at Wankulukuku since their 1-1 draw with Police FC on December 13th last year before the stadium was closed due to renovations ahead of the rearranged 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN) tournament.

Maroons smiled to maximum points

Walugembe gave the visitors the lead in the 10th minute capitalizing on goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige’s mistake.

Villa’s best scoring opportunities in the first period fell to Sula Matovu whose effort kissed the bar.

With 12 minutes to regulation time, Eturude a former SC Villa player sealed the points for Maroons.

SC Villa had only lost once to Maroons FC in the past 12 league games winning five and drawing the rest.

Following today’s result, Maroons are now 8th on the table standings with 27 points while SC Villa drop to 9th on 24 points as pressure piles on their head coach Morley Byekwaso.
