Nine time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners SC Villa progressed to the quarterfinals following their 1-0 win over Lugazi at Najjembe during the round of 16 contest on Tuesday.

SC Villa were without their Star duo of Patrick Jonah Kakande and captain Ronald Ssekiganda who are with the national team in Egypt for the forthcoming World Cup Qualifier matches against Mozambique and Guinea.

Without the duo, second half substitute Reagan Mpande was the hero for Morley Byekwaso’s side when he scored the all important goal in the 69th minute.

Mpande’s goal was enough to send the Jogoos into the last eight.

Meanwhile, 2022 winners BUL FC thrashed Express FC tormentors Total FC 7-0 at Njeru to progress to the quarterfinals.

The trio of Karim Ndugwa, Isaac Wagoina and Reagan Kalyowa each scored a brace with Lawrence Tezikya scoring the other for the Eastern Giants.

BUL FC and SC Villa join holders Kitara FC, Police FC who beat Gaddafi FC and Maroons FC respectively into the last eight.
