Uganda’s two representatives at the CAF Schools Football Championship St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende and St Noa have learnt their opponents for the tournament due in Ghana.
The draw held on Easter Monday at the University of Ghana in Accra by Ghanaian legend Asamoah Gyan and Ivory Coast’s Clementine Toure placed Kitende in Group A alongside South Africa, Algeria and hosts Ghana in the boys’ category.
Group B has reigning champions Tanzania, Senegal, DR Congo and Ivory Coast.
In the girls’ category, St Noa are in Group B along with South Africa, DR Congo and Gambia.
Group A in the Girls’ event has host nation Ghana, Morocco, Benin and Malawi.
The tournament will officially kickoff on Wednesday, 23rd April in Accra, Ghana.
South Africa are the current holders of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Girls U-15 title, after clinching it in a closely contested encounter against Morocco in Tanzania last year.
The Boys U-15 title is held by Tanzania, who lifted the trophy in front of their supporters last year, following their win over Guinea.
Winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ competition will each receive USD 300 000 prize money, with the runners-up receiving USD 200 000 and bronze medallists USD 150 000 to be utilised for development projects within schools.
