UPL Golden Boot Race heats Up ahead of Season’s Climax

The Uganda Premier League Golden Boot race is heating up as we head into the final match-day of the season with Allan Okello (Vipers SC) and Ivan Ahimbisibwe (URA FC) battling it out for the honor.

The Golden Boot is awarded to the top scorer each Uganda Premier League season with a storied history. Players like Andrew Mukasa, Hassan Mubiru, Robert Ssentongo, Geoffrey Sserunkuma, Dan Walusimbi, Brian Umony, Hamis Kitagenda, Muhammad Shaban are some of the most prolific forwards in the league’s history to have finished as top scorers.

This season, Allan Okello who has been a key pillar in Vipers title triumph leads the scorer’s charts with 18 league goals.

Okello has managed three braces this term against Police FC, Mbarara City and Mbale Heroes FC.

He has also netted against URA FC home and away, Wakiso Giants, Bright Stars, BUL FC, UPDF FC, KCCA FC, Mbarara City FC, Express FC, NEC FC, Maroons and Mbale Heroes.

URA FC’s Ahimbisibwe has managed 16 goals league this season. He has scored two hat-tricks coming against Mbale Heroes and Express FC.

His other goals were against Bright Stars, Kitara FC, Express FC, Lugazi FC, Mbarara City and Wakiso Giants.

SC Villa’s Charles Lwanga and Samuel Ssenyonjo from Express have both scored 12 goals whereas Jude Ssemugabi of Kitara FC has 10 goals.

Okello will head into Vipers last match against already relegated Soltilo Bright Stars seeking to seal the boot while Ahimbisibwe will face NEC FC in URA FC’s final match of the season.
