The 2024/25 Uganda Premier league season will officially climax on Saturday with eight fixtures at various venues but all eyes will be at Kitende.
Newly crowned league champions Vipers SC will be crowned as the best team in the land at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende after their contest against already relegated Soltilo Bright Stars.
Vipers sealed the title with a 2-0 win over Kitara FC in their previous league game at Butema Royal Park in Hoima.
The Venoms are seven time UPL champions level with Express FC, only KCCA FC (13) and SC Villa (17) have more titles than the Kitende based side.
Since their first league title during the 2009/10 season, no side has won more than Vipers SC.
They have won seven league titles coming in 2009/10, 2014/15, 2017/18, 2019/20, 2021/22, 2022/23 and now 2024/25. It all began when they clinched the 2009/10 title.
In that time KCCA FC has managed five league titles while URA FC, Express FC and record league champions SC Villa have each won it once.
Elsewhere, second placed NEC FC will entertain URA FC at Lugogo while Express FC take on KCCA FC at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
The Red Eagles are eyeing a top eight finish that will enable them to compete in the preseason Super 8.
Third placed BUL FC visit UPDF FC aiming to keep their second round unbeaten run. In fact, BUL has collected 34 points in the second round the same as champions Vipers.
Lugazi will take on former champions SC Villa at Najjembe while Maroons host Mbarara City in Luzira. Relegated Wakiso Giants seek to end their league journey with maximum points against Police FC as Kitara FC target a top eight slot against relegated Mbale Heroes at home.
