Richard Malinga’s move to Butambala is off after failure to reach an agreement between the parties involved.

Malinga was expected to take over as Butambala head coach for the forthcoming Buganda Masaza Cup but the tactician has failed to reach an agreement with Butambala.

Swift Sports Uganda understands that Butambala couldn’t offer Malinga the salary he demanded ahead of the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup.

Malinga has previously managed in the prestigious competition at three time winners Mawokota guiding them to the semis in 2021 and 2023.

He also recently guided Buddo SS to their third USSSA Boys’ National Football title following their shootout win over joint 11-time winners St Mary’s Secondary School Kitende in Ngora.

Butambala, Bugerere, Buvuma, Buweekula, Mawogola and Busujju are the teams that have never won the competition.
