Joint ten Stanbic Uganda Cup record winners KCCA FC will look to save their season when they face off with Vipers SC in the final under the floodlights of FUFA Kadiba Stadium on Saturday.
Jackson Magera’s side overcame Kataka FC 4-1 in aggregate to set up a repeat of the 2018 Final.
Julius Poloto scored the all important goal in 2018 as KCCA FC triumphant over Vipers.
KCCA Uganda Cup ten time winners in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1993, 2004, 2017 & 2018.
In the league, KCCA had a horrendous campaign finishing 5th with 50 points, 19 below champions Vipers SC.
They are also aiming at ending their trophy drought since winning the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
Vipers fresh from being crowned seventh league champions eliminated last year’s winners Kitara FC 2-0 in the two legged semifinal.
This is Vipers’ fourth final in five years and are seeking to join SC Villa as the two sides to have won multiple doubles.
The four clubs to have won a double are SC Villa (1986, 1988, 1989, 1998, 2000 and 2002), Express FC (1995), KCCA FC (2017) and Vipers in 2022/23 season.
Vipers co-coaches John Ayala Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza have the onus to join Geoff Hudson (SC Villa), Polly Ouma (SC Villa), Mike Mutebi(KCCA FC), Jimmy Muguwa(Express FC and Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho (SC Villa) and Alex Isabirye Musongola (Vipers SC) who are the coaches to have won a Cup double in Ugandan football.
The Venoms are three time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners having previously won it in 2016, 2021 and 2023.
