Hussein Mbalangu has said he hopes to improve his NEC FC side next season after falling short in the 2024/25 campaign.
NEC FC finished two points behind UPL champions Vipers SC in the just concluded 2024/25 season but earned a continental slot following the Kitende based side’s double.
During NEC FC’s end of year dinner at Silver Springs in Bugolobi, Mbalangu assured the club faithfuls of a better 2025/26 season.
“We didn’t perform poorly last season and I take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club for the previous campaign. We have been successful as a club since we are going to represent the club on the continent. We have been together with my players during tough times. Next season, I promise we shall be better than this season.” Said Mbalangu who led NEC FC to a second place finish in the just concluded season.
NEC FC will represent Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup next season following Vipers SC’s double triumph. It will be a remarkable achievement for the club that has spent just two seasons in the topflight division.
It should be remembered that in the 2023/24 season, NEC FC were runners up in the Stanbic Uganda Cup after losing to eventual winners Kitara FC in the Final.
