Vipers SC have emerged as the frontrunners to sign SC Villa’s starman Patrick Jonah Kakande, Swift Sports Uganda understands.
Kakande’s employment contract at the 17 time Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa expires this month and it has been established that the Kitende based side have intensified their interest in the attacker.
Vipers are set to open formal talks with Kakande’s representatives for a possible transfer. Kakande is unlikely to extend his SC Villa stay.
With the Venoms exploring attacking reinforcements, Kakande’s ability to operate both wide and centrally adds significant appeal.
Kakande was instrumental for SC Villa as they ended their 20-year title drought in 2023/24 season. In that very season, he was named as the Most Valuable Player in the league.
This term he has been one of the outstanding performers for the Jogoos.
The double champions also remain interested in KCCA FC’s winger Usama Arafat ahead of a busy schedule next season. They also remain in talks with NEC FC midfielder Enock Ssebaggala and have already completed the signing of Kitara FC striker Jude Ssemugabi.
