Uganda Premier league giants SC Villa are in talks with Charles Livingtone Mbabazi to join their coaching staff as assistant coach.
The Jogoos are expected to appoint a foreign coach to replace Morley Byekwaso after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
Swift Sports Uganda understands that SC Villa want Mbabazi who is currently unemployed following his departure at Mbarara City to be part of a coaching reshuffle.
The latest development means Byekwaso is unlikely to be part of SC Villa’s new technical team.
Mbabazi has previously served at Wakiso Giants FC, Onduparaka FC, Mbarara City FC, Somalia National team, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Lweza FC and Vipers SC.
SC Villa finished sixth on the league standings last season with 45 points as they were dethroned as champions by Vipers SC. They were 24 points adrift of the Venoms and also eliminated by the Kitende based side at the quarterfinal stage of the Uganda Cup.
Despite the expected coaching reshuffles at the 17-time league champions, key players such as Ronald Ssekiganda and Patrick Jonah Kakande who were vital in their 2023/24 title triumph are on the exit door. Ssekiganda has already confirmed his departure after agreeing a deal with Rwanda’s APR FC while Kakande is unlikely to extend his stay.
