The Crested Cranes of Uganda emerged as the Bronze Medalists at the 2025 CECAFA Women’s Championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Despite coming into the tournament as the defending champions, the Crested Cranes had a disappointing run that saw them only win one game against South Sudan (5-0) on match day two.
The Sheryl Botes coached side lost 1-0 to Burundi, 4-0 to Kenya and 2-0 to Tanzania but finished third in the tournament that was played in a round robin format.
South Sudan beat Burundi 3-1 on the final day to seal Uganda’s fate as the third placed team on the table with three points and a better goal difference.
This was the third time Uganda’s Crested Cranes have won the Bronze medal at the CECAFA tournament having previously finished third in 2016 and 2019 in Njeru and Dar es Salaam respectively.
Tanzania’s Twiga Stars won their championship for a record extending time after beating Kenya 1-0 in the title deciding match.
Defender Enez Mudeizi Mango was unfortunately to score a decisive own goal following Clara Luvanga’s cross in the 50th minute.
Tanzania’s goalkeeper Najiati Abas won the Golden Glove having finished the tournament without conceding any goal.
Striker Opa Clement Tukumbuke of Tanzania also won the Golden Boot with five goals whereas her teammate Diana Lucas Msewa was named the MVp of the tournament.
