Aucho, Yanga edge Simba to win fourth consecutive League title

Young Africans successfully defended their Tanzania Premier League title after beating rivals Simba SC 2-0 in the final game of the season.

Heading into the decisive encounter, Yanga were leading the table with 79 points, one better than second placed Simba.

Ivorian Pacome Zouzoua broke the deadlock for Yanga in the 67th minute from the penalty spot before Clement Mzize doubled the scoreline in the 88th minute.

The result ensured a four point lead for Yanga, and automatically crowned them as champions for the fourth consecutive time.

Uganda Cranes midfielder and captain Khalid Aucho who was in the center of action on the day, has won four league titles since joining Yanga in 2021.

The title is also a record-extending 31st for Yanga whereas Simba trail with 22 league titles.

Simba, also home to Steven Mukwala, finished second with 78 points and will represent Tanzania in the CAF Champions League next season alongside Yanga.

Mukwala finished his debut season with 13 league goals, three assists and two Player of the Match awards.
