Uganda Premier league record champions SC Villa are still searching for a new head coach following the premature and untimely departure of Nemanja Milincic.
Swift Sports Uganda has established that the club management led by Omar Mandela remains committed to appointing a foreign coach to take over reins in the next season.
According to reliable sources, SC Villa management fancy a foreign coach over a local based coach to replace Morley Byekwaso who part ways with the 17-time league champions last week. The appointment is expected to be made early next month.
SC Villa has been under six foreign coaches, others are Englishman Geoff Hudson, Spanish Antonio Flores, Greek coach Petros Koukouras, SC Villa after Milutin Micho Sredojevic (2002-04), Srdan Zivojnov (2010-11) and Dusan Stojanovic (2023-24).
Englishman Geoff Hudson, Serbian tacticians Milutin Micho Sredojevic and Dusan Stojanovic are the three foreign coaches to have delivered glory at Villa with the trio winning five titles.
Stojanovic’s magic delivered a record extending 17th league title ending the club’s 20-year title drought and the club felt his departure during the 2024/25 season as they were dethroned by Vipers SC, finishing sixth, 24 points below the Venoms.
