Andrew Wambi, Mbale Heroes FC outgoing chairman, has admitted he made a mistake by re-appointing Asaph Mwebaze as head coach following the departure of Richard Malinga last season.
The decision, which was meant to provide stability, ultimately backfired, leading to poor string of results and the club’s relegation.
While appearing on NBS Sport The Pavilion show, Wambi admitted the error of naming Mwebaze as head coach during the club’s disappointing return to the topflight.
“Before he (Asaph Mwebaze) came, we were performing well, and everything changed after that.” The problems of Mbale Heroes started the day Asaph (Mwebaze) was appointed. Most of the fans didn’t like him,” now ex-Mbale Heroes FC Chairman, Andrew Wambi.
In December last year, Mbale Heroes first suspended Mwebaze before being sacked in January this year.
When he was sacked, Mwebaze stated that the club owes him UGX 9.4 million, which he demanded to be cleared.
On Monday, 30th June, Wambi officially resigned as the club chairman and appointed his Vice Chairman Counsel Ojok Geofrey Odur & Jessica Muduwa to manage the transition.
