Legends Onyango, Wanyama and Ngasa unveil new CHAN Trophy

Uganda Cranes legend Denis Onyango, Kenyan legend Victor Wanyama and Tanzania’s Mrisho Ngasa have officially unveiled the 2024 CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) trophy.

The 2024 edition of the competition will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

Onyango is a former Uganda Cranes captain
Victor Wanyama is former Kenyan national team captain

The unveiling of the new trophy was done on Friday, 1st August 2025 with the tournament that is contested by only players who feature in the local leagues of the African continent slated to kickoff on Saturday in Tanzania.

Tanzania will open with Burkina Faso on Saturday, 2nd August at the National Stadium in Dar es salaam.

Uganda will open it’s campaign with Algeria on 4th August at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

This is the first time in history that three nations are hosting the CHAN tournament.

The CHAN 2024 tournament is a rehearsal for the three East African nations who are gearing up to host the 2027 AFCON championship.
