Kitende, Kawempe Muslim learn group stage opponents for CAF African Schools Championship

Uganda’s representatives at the CAF African Schools Football championship St.Mary’s Kitende and Kawempe Muslim have learnt their group stage opponents.

The group stage draw was conducted on Sunday in host nation Zanzibar by Jean Sseninde of Uganda as well as Nigeria’s Daniel Amokachi.

Kitende have been drawn in Group A in the boys’ category alongside Tanzania and Senegal.

In Group B, South Africa who played host to the finals last season are up against Benin, Guinea and Libya.

In the Girls category, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School (Uganda) are in Group B alongside South Africa, Togo and The Gambia while
hosts Tanzania were drawn in Group A alongside Morocco and Congo Republic.

Both the boys and girls’ tournament will be held at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar from May 21st-25th.

Winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ competition will each receive USD 300 000 prize money, runners-up each receiving USD 200 000, while the bronze medallists will each take home USD 150 000, courtesy of CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation.

Group A: Tanzania, Senegal, Uganda,
