Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC are among the 12 clubs that will take part in this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The tournament will be held on 2nd to 15th September in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Vipers under new head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert will be seeking to emulate the likes of KCCA FC (1978 & 2019), SC Villa (1987, 2003 & 2005), Police FC (2006) and Express FC (2022) by lifting the title.
Last year, SC Villa represented Uganda at the tournament that was won by Zambia Premier league side Red Arrows who beat Rwanda’s APR FC in the final that was held at the KMC Stadium.
Besides Vipers SC (Uganda), El Merriekh SC Bentiu (South Sudan), Mlandege SC (Zanzibar), Al Hilal (Sudan), Kenya Police FC (Kenya), Ethiopia Insurance (Ethiopia), MCC FC (Somalia), APR FC (Rwanda), Aigle Noir FC (Burundi), Young Africans SC, Simba SC (Tanzania), ASAS Djibouti Telecom (Djibouti) are the other teams expected to participate in the tournament.
