The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the date and venue for the Preliminary Draw of both the CAF Champions league and Confederation Cup.
According to CAF, the draw will be conducted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Saturday, 9th August 2025.
This will be the first time that the Preliminary Draw is taking place in Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam.
The Preliminary Draw will be conducted at 13h00 local time (10h00 GMT) and will be LIVE on CAF’s YouTube Page and also CAF’s broadcast partners.
Azam Media, CAF’s strategic partner in the region, will host the Draw in its studios – once again building from the previous success of hosting draws in TV studios.
CAF has previously hosted the draws at SuperSport and beIN Sport studios both key partners in the growth and development of the Interclub together with Canal+.
Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC will represent Uganda in the CAF Champions league and will be aiming to progress to the group stage since the 2022/23 season when they joined KCCA FC as the two Ugandan sides to have reached the group phase.
NEC FC will for the first time in the club’s history represent Uganda at the CAF Confederation Cup.
Hussein Mbalangu’s side finished second in the league and secured their slot in the CAF Confederation Cup following Vipers’ double triumph last term.
The Preliminary Round is scheduled to kick off on 19 September 2025, followed by the Second Preliminary Round starting on 17 October 2025.
The Group Stage of both the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will begin on 21 November 2025, with the knockout phase set to commence on 13 March 2026.
