Former Vipers SC coach Robert Oliveira Goncalves Do Carmo “Robertinho” has been named as the new head coach of Saudi Arabian club Jeddah Sports Club.
Jeddah Sports Club competes in the second division of the Saudi Arabian football hierarchy.
Robertinho has been a free agent after parting ways with Rwanda’s Rayon Sports.
He coached Vipers between 2021-22 and won them a Uganda Premier League title in the 2021/22 season and a Stanbic Uganda Cup in 2021 on top of guiding the club to the coveted group stages of the CAF Champions League.
He later joined Tanzanian giants Simba SC in January 2023 following an impressive spell at Kitende.
Robertinho also previously coached Gor Mahia in Kenya, Stade Tunisien, Kazma SC in Kuwait, Fluminense in Brazil, Al Shamal in Qatar among others.
His work at Jeddah Sports Club is well cut out, following the club’s unimpressive performance last season that saw them finish 12th on the league table of 16 teams.
Jeddah Sports Club is also a former club of former Cranes midfielder Hassan Wasswa Mawanda.
Last season, Halid Lwaliwa played for Al Ain in the Saudi second division before the club succumbed to relegation in the closing stages of the campaign.
