Champions Buddu crash out of Masaza Cup as Ssese edges closer to knockout stage

Reigning Buganda Masaza Cup champions Buddu will not defend their crown after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Ssese in the Bulange Group contest on Saturday at Lutobooka.

Alaphat Muyanja scored the all important goal in the second half of the game.

Buddu who won the competition last year beating Kyaggwe in the final crash out of the competition at the group stage for the first time in many years.

In the previous editions of the prestigious competition Buddu have at least reached the last eight but this time their journey ends at the group stage with a game to spare.

Meanwhile, Ssese need just a point to reach the last eight of the competition along with Buluuli and Busujju who are all on 15 points in Bulange group.

Buddu are fourth with 9 points while Busiro is on 8 points and record winners Gomba are bottom with 6 points. Ironically the three former champions of the competition are out.
