Four Schools secure FUFA TV Cup Quarterfinal slots

Eight games were played on Match-Day two of the FUFA TV Cup on Wednesday in Gulu District with four schools securing slots in the quarterfinals.

Hosts St.Joseph’s College Layibi sealed a place in the last eight following their 2-1 win over Muntunyera High School.

Tinyefuza Sadam had given Muntunyera High School the lead before the hosts sealed a comeback win through Okello Isaac Ojok and Mamer Martin.

The hosts also won their first group game on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Kako SS.

Reigning champions Nabumali High School needed Siida Joseph’s sole goal to beat Duhanga 1-0 for their second Group B win which sent them into the final eight.

Mengo SS succumbed to their second defeat at the ongoing event in Gulu against Dr. Obote College Boroboro.

Dr.Obote College Boroboro smiled to a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to Awio Francis Xavier’s only goal of the contest.

Dr Obote thrashed St Balikuddembe SS 5-1 in their first match of Group C are also into the last eight.

Ngora High School who edged Mengo 3-2 on match-day one drew with St.Balikuddembe 2-2 on match-day two.

Ocekan Emmanuel and Lemi Solomon scored for Ngora while St.Balikuddembe goals were scored by Ahabwe Brandon and Gabunga Exavor.

Wacha David handed Kibuli SS a narrow 1-0 win over St.Charles Lwanga Kasasa. Kibuli SS who beat Mbale SS 2-0 in their first game of Group D are now on six points and are surely into the last eight.

They join hosts St.Joseph’s College Layibi, Dr Obote Boroboro and holders Nabumali High School into the quarterfinals.

This year’s FUFA TV Cup 2025 has famously been branded “The Showdown 16.” The event will run until 9th September 2025 in Gulu District.
