Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has commended his beleaguered troops for their performances over Mozambique in the Group G of the World Cup qualifiers on Friday at Namboole.

Uganda thrashed Mozambique 4-0 in a dominant victory with Allan Okello, Rogers Mato and Elio Capradossi scoring the three goals for the Cranes.

“If you see the temple of the match, the statistics, we did more than many teams in Europe. We pressed well, attacked well and the players are willing to play and show something to our supporters. I am very happy with their performance.”

Put whose team lost 3-1 during their first meeting with Mozambique in March asserted that he wanted revenge.

“We did well and I asked my team to revenge against the 3-0 loss we suffered away in Mozambique. Lots of opportunities were wasted in the first period and I asked my team on return for the second half to be calm and take our chances away which they perfectly did.” Said the Belgian tactician

Uganda are now second in the Group with 12 points and will next host already eliminated Somalia on Monday at Namboole.
