The 2025 FUFA TV Cup showdown climaxed on Tuesday, 9th September at St.Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu District.

The tournament began as a qualifier round that had 54 teams then brought in the top eight sides from the 2024 edition in the Round of 32, from which the top 16 were decided.

Kampala based Kibuli SS came out on top overcoming Jinja SSS 2-1 in the final showdown on Tuesday.

David Wacha scored a brace as Kibuli SS secured the title in Gulu district.

John Brian Owino struck for Jinja SSS but his goal was not enough to earn them a title.

During the previous edition, Kibuli did not make the ‘Big 8’ that was held at Fufa Technical Centre.

Jinja SSS lost 1-0 to Nganwa High School from Kabwohe in last year’s semifinals before beating Lango College 2-1 in the third place playoffs.

In Layibi, Jinja SSS topped Group D with seven points after a draw with St.
Charles Lwanga Koboko and win over Kibuli and Mbale SS. They then beat Dr. Obote College Boroboro 2-0 in Saturday’s quarterfinals courtesy of Lawrence Owita’s brace.

In the semifinals on Sunday, Isaac Bbuye scored the lone goal as they overcame Nabumali 1-0 in the semis.

Kibuli finished second in Group D with six points after two wins over Mbale and Koboke.

Andrew Kasagga scored the all important goal as Kibuli edged Ngora High School in the quarters but needed a 7-6 penalty shootout win to end St.Joseph’s College Layibi journey.

Following Tuesday’s triumph, Kibuli join inaugural winners St.Mary’s College Kisubi and Nabumali High School as the other schools to have won the competition.
