The 2025/26 Pepsi University Football season officially kicked off on Thursday with a double header at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.

Holders Uganda Martyrs University began their title defence against Kampala University in the early kickoff contest at the refurbished Nakivubo.

Both sides settled for a goalless stalemate in their first match of Group A.

Uganda Martyrs are the reigning champions following their triumph last season while Kampala University are two time competition winners.

Meanwhile, the second game produced goals with returning Kyambogo University maximizing points against ISBAT University a 2-1 win in their group C game.

Kyambogo returned to the competition after two years of suspension due to indiscipline.

They managed to get three points on their return to the prestigious competition despite finishing with a man-less.

Emmanuel Komakech and a late winner from Ivan Odong handed Kyambogo all three points.
