Vipers SC has officially confirmed that they will not participate in the newly introduced Uganda Premier League citing threats as per the document by club President Dr.Lawrence Mulindwa.
In a letter from Vipers president Mulindwa to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and Uganda Premier League Secretariat, he stressed that they won’t be participating in the double-header fixture against Kitara FC scheduled for Saturday, 4th October 2025 at Namboole.
According to Mulindwa, FUFA failed to respond to the issues raised in their previous communications dated 23rd August, 23rd September and 29th September, 2025.
“Vipers SC did raise a number of pertinent issues and concerns as regards the new League format and why it was not timely and appropriate to have the same introduced in the 2025/2026 football season. However, to our surprise and dismay and with utter disrespect, we have to-date never received any formal response to the several pertinent issues raised in our petitions but have instead been met with social media and main stream media ridicule, blackmail, rebuke and ostracization due to our demand for legitimate answers to key issues affecting the sporting integrity of the League plus our programming as an entity. Without also addressing our concerns, the Federation has gone ahead to include and conscript us into the 2025/26 season fixtures and also advertise us for a supposed double header scheduled for Saturday 04th October 2025 at Namboole Stadium.”
Mulindwa also stated that the seven time league champions are ready to use all avenues to seek for justice.
“Please be reminded that Vipers will use all available means within the confines of the football laws and best practices to seek redress for the justice of the game and protect its rights as an independent and full member of FUFA and by copy of this communication, all other relevant and concerned stakeholders are accordingly informed.” Said Mulindwa
Meanwhile, SC Villa and NEC FC who had earlier rejected the new reforms have confirmed participation in the league with both taking on KCCA FC and URA FC respectively on Match-day two.
