The Kenyan Football Federation (FKF) will investigate goalkeeper Patrick Matasi over match fixing allegations.
In a video on social media, Matasi who features for Kenyan Premier league side Kakamega Homeboyz was seen agreeing a deal to influence the result of a league game.
The Kenyan Federation stated that it will work Fifa, the Confederation of African Football for transparent investigations
“We reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy on match manipulation and are committed to safeguarding the credibility of our competitions.”
“This investigation will adhere to FKF’s anti-match manipulation regulations and Fifa guidelines, ensuring a fair, transparent, and thorough process.
“The rights of the player and his club will be respected, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.” Read a statement
Meanwhile, Kakemega Homeboyz Owner Cleophas Shimanyula revealed that the custodian was shocked at what he was seeing in a video
“I have spoken to him. He was also shocked at what he was seeing in the video and he told me he doesn’t know about match-fixing,” Homeboyz owner Shimanyula stated as quoted by BBC
Matasi has 30 appearances for Kenya national team with his last coming in October, 2024 during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
