Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) Hospital, in partnership with fireworks Advertising, today held a press briefing and walk kit handover ceremony for media stakeholders at the fireworks Advertising offices. This event marks the final countdown to the Annual CoRSU Charity Walk, scheduled for this Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) grounds in Kampala.

The handover ceremony saw key media houses receive their official CoRSU Walk kits, emphasizing the crucial role the media plays in mobilizing public participation for the cause. The 2025 walk aims to raise UGX 400 million, which will be dedicated to funding life-changing surgical interventions for approximately 300 children living with disabilities, procuring essential medical equipment, and enhancing the hospital’s rehabilitation facilities.
While speaking at the handover, Walter Wafula, Group CEO of fireworks Advertising, emphasized the power of collaboration in driving social impact.

“This walk is the physical manifestation of our commitment to social responsibility. Our partnership with CoRSU is built on the shared belief that every child deserves the chance to live a full life, free from the limitations of treatable physical disabilities,” said Wafula. “By bringing the media on board as our partners, we are amplifying the message of hope and ensuring that hundreds of children from vulnerable communities get the medical attention they desperately need. We call upon all Ugandans to join us this Sunday.”

The CoRSU Walk will offer two main participatory routes: a friendly 5-kilometer route for families and casual walkers, and a challenging 10-kilometer route for fitness enthusiasts. Both routes will begin and end at the MUBS main playground, winding through the surrounding areas and creating visibility for the cause.

In addition to the walk, a comprehensive medical camp will be set up at the MUBS grounds throughout the day. This camp will feature free orthopaedic consultations, rehabilitation advice, physiotherapy demonstrations, and information sessions on early detection and prevention of physical disabilities in children.
Dorothy Namayanja, Head of Programs and Partnerships at CoRSU Rehabilitation Hospital, highlighted the direct impact of the funds raised.

“The CoRSU walk is our lifeline. The UGX 400 million we hope to raise will cover surgeries and restore dignity, facilitate reintegration into school, and fundamentally transform the future of these children,” she said. “Last year’s success allowed us to significantly expand our outreach, and this year, with the fantastic support from fireworks

Advertising and our media partners, we are confident we can surpass our goals. Join us, walk with purpose, and help us turn disability into ability for hundreds of families.”

The public is encouraged to register for the walk immediately to secure their kits and contribute to CoRSU’s ongoing mandate of providing accessible, high-quality, specialized surgical and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities in Uganda. Participants and supporters can send their financial contributions to CoRSU via MTN Mobile Money, Code: 599 393, or Airtel Money : 4369 188, which is registered under CoRSU Hospital.
