Uganda Cricket Cranes head coach Abhay Sharma has resigned from is role following a disappointing T20 World Cup Qualifying campaign in Zimbabwe.
Sharma was appointed as Cricket Cranes head coach in April last year and managed the team at the T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
He replaced South African coach Laurence Mahatlane at the helms and leaves after just one year and half into his three year employment contract.
After Cricket Cranes qualification campaign to the World Cup in Namibia in 2024, Sharma had to led the team to yet another World Cup qualification but his team finished a distant fifth but not enough to prevent them from a return to the regional qualifiers for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
Defeat to Tanzania was the nail in the coffin for Sharma’s Cricket Cranes coaching career.
The Cricket Cranes will now turn attention to Kigali Rwanda where they will be seeking to defend their ILT20 Cup.
