Uganda Premier League champions and Vipers SC have confirmed that they have yet received prize money for winning both titles last season.

The winners of the Uganda Premier League for the previous seasons have been receiving Shs60m while Uganda Cup winners get Shs50m.

During an interview with New Vision, Vipers President Dr.Lawrence Mulindwa stressed that they have not yet received the prize money for last season’s cup double success.

“We have not been paid the prize money from last season where we won the league and Uganda Cup. Now, where are you getting the money to do something that you have failed in the past, including giving clubs 50 million each after disbandment of facilitation to clubs in the intercontinental competitions?”

In his recent interview, Mulindwa also remains unconvinced of the Shs3.4Bn injection from FUFA into the newly introduced League format.

“Even with the 3.4 billion, he is just playing on people’s heads because the last team will still earn less than 10 million prize money.” Said Mulindwa

On Saturday, Vipers who are the reigning league champions were scheduled to kick off their title defence against Kitara FC but boycotted the fixture in rejection of the new reforms in the format.

SC Villa who lost to KCCA FC 2-1 are also playing in protest under duress.
