Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo has on Sunday, 12th October won the 2025 Chicago Marathon in Illinois, USA.
The Ugandan long-distance supremo won the 42km race in a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 23 seconds distancing Kenyan Amos Kipruto by 91 seconds.
Kiplimo who made his full marathon debut in London in April was running his second career marathon and is now the seventh fastest marathoner in history.

The two time Cross Country World champion and half-marathon world record holder is also the first Ugandan to ever win a World Marathon Major.
Meanwhile, Hawi Feysa of Ethiopia won the women’s race in a time of 2:14:56 the sixth-fastest women’s marathon in history for her first major marathon title.
She prevailed by 2:22 over compatriot Megertu Alemu. Feysa also became the first Ethiopian winner of the women’s race in eight years,
Kiplimo and Feysa will each bag $100000 for winning the men’s and women’s elite races respectively.
