Kampala Queens 2-1 Makerere University

Kampala Queens needed a late Kamiyat Naigaga goal to edge a resilient Makerere University side 2-1 in the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League encounter at Lugogo.

Naigaga capitalized on a lapse in defense to fire home the match winning goal in the added minutes.

Makerere had taken an early lead through skipper Josephine Ndagire who headed perfectly from Hasifa Namboozo’s well delivered free kick in the 3rd minute.

Joanita Ainembabazi, who replaced Zambian striker Square Maiwase in the first half, equalized for Kampala Queens with a close range header in the 49th minute.

Makerere had an opportunity to win the contest but Noeline Namiiro’s teasing free kick hit the woodwork shortly before Naigaga exonerated herself for the earlier misses to win all three points for the defending champions.

The diminutive forward found her way through Namboozo and Catherine Namukose to thump the ball past the Makerere goalkeeper in the final minute of added time.

Kampala Queens will visit Rines SS WFC in their match on Sunday 19th October while Makerere will host Olila on the same day.
