The 2025/26 Uganda Premier League kicked off last month but it has been overshadowed by the ongoing rift regarding the new reforms introduced by FUFA in August this year.
According to the latest developments, the 16 top-flight division sides will meet this Saturday with the Uganda Premier league board to discuss the unresolved issues regarding the newly introduced league reforms.
While appearing on NBS Sport on Friday, UPL Board Chairman Arinaitwe Rugyendo confirmed that the meeting is aimed at listening to raised concerns from clubs over the new reforms before their expected meeting with the First Lady, who also serves as the Minister of Education and Sports.
“This Saturday, all 16 clubs will meet with the league board to discuss the ongoing concerns around the reforms and the proposed new formats,” Rugyendo said. “The meeting with the First Lady will also take place soon, though the exact date hasn’t yet been confirmed. All clubs will be part of that engagement.”

Earlier this month, reigning league champions Vipers wrote a letter to FUFA and UPL totally rejecting the newly introduced reforms which included included boycotting an opening fixture against Kitara FC that thrown the season into chaos.
Record league champions SC Villa and NEC FC are playing under duress. Fans boycotted the UPL organized double header at Namboole.
KCCA FC Patron Erias Lukwago called on FUFA President Magogo to rethink and rescind his decision over the new league format.
