Soltilo Bright Stars edged Kiyinda Boys 1-0 at the Betherm Ground in Kiwenda to earn their first win of the FUFA Big League season.
Captain Sharif Nsereko scored the all important goal in the 62nd minute of the game.
Prior to the victory, Bright Stars had played out to three successive draws and lost once in the opening four games of the season.
The new look Bright Stars lost the better part of their squad following their relegation from the Uganda Premier League last season.
The Ian Mutenda coached side embarked on a new beginning with a 2-1 defeat to Kataka FC in their opening game of the season.
The defeat in Mbale was followed by draws against CATDA FC (2-2), Kaaro Karungi (1-1) and Bunyaruguru United (1-1) respectively.
The win over Kiyinda takes Bright Stars to six points from five games played and peels them away from the drop zone.
