Seven time Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC have boosted their coaching staff with Simon Peter Mugerwa.
Mugerwa is a CAF A licensed coach and has been unemployed at club level since departure at Mbarara City last month. He joins Vipers on a three year employment contract, Swift Sports can reliably confirm.
He replaces Fred Muhumuza who was appointed as Paul Put’s assistant on the senior national team.
Besides Mbarara City and Police where he won the 2023/24 FUFA Big League title, Mugerwa has been at several clubs including Fire Masters, Sports Club Villa, (Assistant coach), Soltilo Bright Stars(Assistant/ interim Head coach), and recently Proline FC (Head coach).
In the Masaza Cup, he served at Buddu and guided both Bulemeezi (2019) and Busiro (2022) to the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup triumph. This year he was at Kyaggwe.
At Vipers, Mugerwa along with John Ayala Luyinda will support Belgian tactician Ivan Jacky Minnaert.
The Venoms are in action today and will be seeking to go top of the table when they face Calvary FC in Yumbe.
