Okello’s transfer is believed to be worth around $300,000 (UGX. 1 billion) and will see him earn a salary estimated between $8,000 and $10,000.
He leaves Vipers after guiding the Venoms to a domestic double last season that also saw him win the league Golden Boot with 19 goals.
Overall, Okello produced 24 goals and 13 assists in the 58 league appearances he played for the Venoms and also managed four goals and two assists in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Okello will be expected to instil magic in the Yanga team in their enormous campaign of the CAF Champions League and a bid to retain the Tanzania Premier League table.
He is expected to debut for the Tanzanian champions in the CAF Champions League against Al Ahly in Cairo on 23rd January.
The former KCCA FC and Paradou AC attacking midfielder joins a list of Ugandans who have played for Yanga like Emma Okwi, Diego Hamis Kiiza, Khalid Aucho, Steven Bengo, Juma Balinya and Gift Fred.
