John Byaruhanga scored the all important goal as Kitara FC completed a double over Maroons FC on Thursday at Luzira.
Byaruhanga struck in the 36th minute to earn Wasswa Bbosa’s men maximum points as well as closing the gap on leaders Vipers SC.
Kitara came into the contest after being handed three points in the unplayed first round game over Vipers SC. The FUFA decision saw Kitara move up to second place.
Following today’s victory, they remain second on the table with 35 points just one below Vipers who play BUL FC on Friday.
Maroons had last suffered a league defeat at home in April 2025.
Byaruhanga’s powerful shot beat goalkeeper Norman Odipio who protested that the ball had not crossed the line but the match officials judged that the ball had crossed the line.
Maroons FC remained on 18 points and next travel to SC Villa on 19th February while Kitara FC will host URA FC on the same day.
