Ten-time Stanbic Uganda Cup champions KCCA FC have become the first side to reach the round of 16 following their 1-0 win over Mbarara City on Sunday at Lugogo.
Captain Filbert Obenchan scored the only goal of the contest as the Kasasiro boys eliminated the Ankole Lions.
Obenchan’s goal came at the stroke of halftime when he headed home a perfect Ashraf Mugume free kick.
Mbarara City pressed for the leveller but couldn’t breakdown a resilient KCCA defence.
KCCA are seeking their first Stanbic Uganda Cup trophy since 2018 when they beat Vipers SC in Bukedea.
The round of 32 will resume on Tuesday with several fixtures including the one between reigning champions Vipers against Pajule Lions.
