Kigezi Homeboyz 1-0 Wakiso Giants
South Sudanese striker Dominic Abonga scored a late winner as Kigezi Homeboyz beat Wakiso Giants 1-0 in the FUFA Big League at the Al Madina Ground in Kabale.
Abonga who recently joined Kigezi from South Sudan’s Koryom FC, broke the deadlock in the 75th minute with a header from Timothy Beinomugisha’s teasing free kick.
Abonga’s arrival could prove vital for the Sadick Sempigi coached side who are in contention for their maiden promotion to the UPL.
Kigezi narrow victory for Wakiso Giants keeps the club in the top four positions of the FUFA Big League table, sitting 3rd, having garnered 29 points from 17 games.
Ironically, Kigezi Homeboyz are tied on 29 points with Ntugasaze FC, Paidha Black Angels and fourth placed Blacks Power.
Kigezi will visit fellow promotion hopefuls Ntugasaze in their subsequent game on Sunday 8th March.
Likewise, Wakiso Giants, who are currently in a place above the relegation zone on 19 points, will host fellow strugglers Mbale Heroes on the same day.
