Hoima City Stadium to host Bunyoro derby

The Uganda Premier League Secretariat has confirmed change of Venue for Kitara FC Vs Buhimba United Saints from The Royals Park in Butema to the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium.

This will be the first ever Uganda Premier league match to be hosted by the Stadium.

“The Uganda Premier League Secretariat acknowledges receipt of your request seeking a change of venue for the SUPL Matchday 21 Fixture M#162 between Kitara FC and Buhimba United Saints FC.
Following review, the Secretariat hereby approves the change of venue from The Royals Park – Butema, to Hoima City Stadium, scheduled for Friday, 13th March 2026, at 4:00 PM, live on Sanyuka Prime TV. All necessary hosting and operational requirements have been confirmed by the host club, and the match will proceed as scheduledu as a Bunyoro – Kitara derby.” Reads the development from UPL

Buhimba United Saints won the first round meeting 1-0 thanks to Edson Agondeze late strike in October last year in the game played at the Royals Park, Butema.

The 20,000-seater Hoima City Stadium, was built at a cost of 130 million U.S. dollars, was formally handed over to the government.

Its construction started in August 2024, with completion of construction was achieved in October 2025. The stadium was officially opened on 24 December 2025 with a friendly Match between Kitara FC and KCCA FC.
