Uganda U17 Women’s National Football Team, the Teen Cranes have progressed to the second round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers after overcoming Zimbabwe on Saturday.
Uganda thrashed Zimbabwe 4-1 in the second leg meeting that was played at FUFA Kadiba Stadium.
The Teen Cranes advanced to the next round 6-1 on aggregate.
Brendah Nassaka, Immaculate Acen, Giovanna Aketogwanga and Terry Mora Oseko scored Uganda’s goals in the return leg fixture.
Zimbabwe’s consolation was scored by Shantel Gwenhamo.
Nassaka handed the hosts the lead in the 10th minute before Acen doubled the lead at the half hour mark.
But before, Acen had failed to score from the spot when her penalty hit the pot in the 26th minute.
Aketogwanga made it 3-0 before Gwenhamo pulled one back at the stroke of halftime.
In the Second half, substitute Oseko who replaced Grace Kawino completed the scoring as Uganda prevailed to the next round.
Uganda will now turn focus to their East African neighbours Kenya whom they will face in the second qualification round. Kenya cruised 7-1 past Namibia on aggregate.
